My Life as an Educator As a child, I knew that I wanted to teach History. I firmly believe that having that goal so early in life enabled me to focus on becoming an educator. In 1984, I received my BA in History. I began teaching immediately. In 1985, I earned an MS in History and Secondary Education. I began teaching at the Louis Armstrong Middle School in Corona Queens and spent four wonderful years there. Upon arriving in San Diego, I spent one year at Twin Peaks Middle School before moving on to Mount Carmel High School which is where I've been since 1989. Today, I teach Civics to Seniors and On-Line US History to Juniors. Both classes provide me with unique challenges and rewards. Over the years, I've had some special moments that all teachers should experience. One time, while studying W.W.I, my class and another class were in one room, behind desks, crouched on the floor, pretending to be in trenches. While the students were on the floor, I had two stereos blasting with the sound of gunfire and bombs. Being a relatively new teacher at the time, I had not warned the teacher next door of my plans. He had a Senior Economics class with a guest speaker. When the first gunshots went off, the guest speaker hit the ground. I still get to hear about that one today
